OnePlus One in 64 GB

OnePlus One in 64 GB, a powerful platform, streamlined interface Cyanogen, a beautiful display.

Summary OnePlus One is a smartphone that wants high-end, but priced at a mid-range phone. Enticing proposition, of course. But is it worth all the buzz that sparked its launch? A question that we will bring some answers.
The OnePlus One is definitely an iconic smartphone. It demonstrates that Chinese actors (such as ZTE, Huawei / Honor, Meizu, Alcatel, Lenovo, Oppo and others) are no longer confined to the manufacturers entry segments in Western countries. They are also able to deliver on the key aspects of the mobile (ergonomics, interface, performance) experiences at least similar to those marks "Premium".

Developed with the ambition to provide technical characteristics equivalent to a Samsung Galaxy S5 for a price two times lower (thanks to an exclusively direct sales and reduced margins), the One created a buzz throughout the spring. With a launch agitated by supply difficulties and small errors in communication and development, the mobile is always available, six months after its formalization in limited quantities. But the informed public no mistake, for it may be the best deal currently.

Factsheet
On a purely technical level, the OnePlus One is worthy of the majority of "standard-bearers" of traditional brands. 5.5 inch diagonal Full HD screen with a resolution of 401 dots per inch and protected by a reinforced Gorilla Glass 3 Corning. Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 2.5 GHz 801 compatible LTE. 3 GB of RAM. Battery 3100 mAh. 16 or 32 GB of internal storage (depending on your taste, needs and vote portfolio). Sony Exmor RS camera sensor of 13 megapixels capable of shooting 4K / Ultra HD. Compatible 4G, Wi-Fi ac dual band and NFC. It lacks him finally not much against the Galaxy S5.

Fans of Korean brands of course find fault. The absence of a fingerprint reader, for example. Or a platform that does not go to the end of the concept, that of the smartphone with the best possible characteristics (chipset, resolution, APN). But, remember that the One is a mobile formalized in spring. Since then, technology has actually evolved. But even despite this, it remains one of the best value for money. And high-end platform even by today's standards undoubtedly.

Design
The design of OnePlus One is not particularly innovative. It is even minimalist, like accessories. For its first smartphone, OnePlus avoided premium materials to make her more accessible smartphone. In fact, the shell of the smartphone is integrally made of polycarbonate. The manufacturer is however not content, like LG or Samsung with a smooth and glossy chassis uniquely retaining fingerprints. He preferred to give a grainy appearance to the rear part of the mobile. This provides a firm grip. Unlike a Huawei Ascend P7, a Sony Xperia Zx or Wiko Highway, the mobile will not slip through your fingers. No need to be afraid to handle it. However, after a few months of use, over the smartphone became slightly smoother. Indicating that this material must be worn.

However, construction is good and there is no play in the smartphone or disturbing creaking. Given its size (5.5 inch screen), the hardware buttons are all positioned on the left and right edges. They are accompanied there by the access door micro SIM port, indicating a unibody design. The battery is removable. Last on the overall aesthetics: despite the presence of Android 4.4 KitKat, the smartphone incorporates a touch screen below the screen with the navigation keys. This slab can be disabled in the settings of the smartphone to integrate this function into the interface.

Display and OS
The One is based on a large touch screen of 5.5 inches with Full HD display designed by the Japanese consortium Japan Display (also iPhone provider). Is a resolution of 400 pixels per inch precisely. The grain of this screen is excellent, the good viewing angles and ample visibility in direct sunlight, even if the brightness setting is set automatically by Android (which tends to lower it too). This slab is protected by a reinforced Gorilla Glass Corning 3, the reference in this exercise that you find in the majority of current high-end. This glass offers impeccable glide and does not interfere with system responsiveness.

The One works with a modified version of Android. Fans of "custom ROM" familiar with its creator, as it is CyanogenMod. However, this is not their usual ROM that runs the One, but a customized version for OnePlus. If you find Trebuchet (the application launcher CyanogenMod) and the majority of customized applications (including Gallery, AudioFX, etc.) and access to some unpublished settings, the interface is intended here rather closer to Google Launcher now you find on the Nexus. The impression that emerges is excellent! This offers a sleek and fluid system.

Performances
This is obviously in performance that distinguishes OnePlus. As we indicated, the smartphone is based on the best of Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (quad-core Krait 400 clocked at 2.5GHz, Adreno 330 GPU) associated with 3 GB of RAM. Add to this a check on the capabilities of the CPU with three levels (as on the nVidia Tegra): standard, power saving and performance. The difference between the two most extreme modes is obvious. One offers a battery life of two days with a frequency falling to 1.2 GHz, while the second turns all the most demanding applications in all energy gluttony.

3DMark If there is no difference between the two modes, the GPU still working the same way, AnTuTu notes a very big difference. The score simply spends double. For lovers of numbers, OnePlus One, set to be efficient, exceeds 20 000 points 3DMark and close to 50 000 points on AnTuTu. Scores that rank among the best scores ever achieved with a Snapdragon 801. Needless to say that with such a motor, no 3D game or any Full HD movie can resist him.

Camera
The camera consists of a Sony IMX214 sensor 13 megapixels, that fitted all the high-end smartphones earlier this year. It is associated with a 6-membered optical aperture of f / 2.0. The result of this combination is good, well detailed and friendly colors. It is not perfect either. Few problems on the management of the exhibition. Small failures in low-light shots. And a slight lack of contrast. Nothing serious so far, whether you are connoisseur or novice in photography. However, do not expect the OnePlus One results such as those from Sony Xperia.

The application driving this sensor however, is not interesting. Many modes and settings are on the program, with choice of development modes, sensor sensitivity, etc. Some experts will certainly enjoy themselves and manage to get the IMX214 pictures of very good quality. Physical trigger enthusiasts will discover the joy of transforming an option in the trigger standby button and zoom control volume buttons. A very good idea, certainly signed CyanogenMod.
